College Football Rankings: Texas 15, TCU 17 In Coaches Poll

Despite two consecutive down years for Mack Brown's program, UT is still highly regarded coming into the 2012 season.

With the start of the college football season right around the corner, the first edition of the coaches poll is out, and the Longhorns are ranked No. 15 in the country.

They're two points ahead of No. 17 TCU, entering their first year in the Big 12.

The conference, as a whole, did fairly well, placing the second most teams (6) behind only the SEC (7) in the top 25.

Oklahoma, the pre-season favorite, checks in at No. 4 and TCU's fellow newcomer West Virginia, fresh off a 70-point showing in the 2012 Orange Bowl, is at No. 11. Oklahoma State, fresh off their first Big 12 title in school history, is at No. 19 while Kansas State rounds it out at No. 21.

And with Robert Griffin III now in the NFL, Baylor is one of several schools appearing in the also receiving votes category to start the 2012 season.
