The Texas Longhorns basketball team was part of come exciting news on Thursday, as they were announced as participants in a massive tournament event for the 2017-18 season. The inaugural Carrier Classic tournament will bring together 16 name-brand Nike schools and will be held in Portland, Ore. in November of 2017.
Barking Carnival reports that the list of schools is terribly formidable. Along with Texas, the mega-event will include the Michigan St. Spartans, Kentucky Wildcats, Duke Blue Devils, North Carolina Tar Heels, Florida Gators, Ohio St. Buckeyes, Connecticut Huskies, Georgetown Hoyas, Oklahoma Sooners, Stanford Cardinal, Oregon Ducks, Xavier Musketeers, Butler Bulldogs, Gonzaga Bulldogs and host team Portland Pilots.
If any of these schools should end up switching athletic brands, they will obviously be replaced, but the tournament will likely create buzz for a good long while and could end up being one of the biggest regular-season tournaments ever.
