Tevin Reese and Terrance Williams of Baylor, Mike Davis of the Texas Longhorns and TCU's Josh Boyce are among the top wide receivers in all of college football to watch this year as announced by the early watch list released for the 2012 Biletnikoff Award. All four receivers certainly hope the award stays within the Big 12 parameters this season as Oklahoma State's Justin Blackmon has kept the award to himself the last two seasons -- a sign of just how dominant he was with the Cowboys.
As for Davis, he joins an elite group of the top receivers in football heading into the upcoming 2012 season. Great things are expected from Davis, a sophomore who has yet to break out. Last year, Davis had 45 catches for 609 yards and only 1 touchdown, so his inclusion speaks more to expectations than actual production.
Boyce had 61 catches last year for the Horned Frogs for a total of 998 yards and 9 touchdowns, and TCU will need major production from him in their first year in the Big 12.
As for Reese and Williams, both players have big shoes to fill in an offense that will miss Robert Griffin III and Kendall Wright among others. Luckily, the Bears still have playmakers at receiver like these two. Reese had 51 catches for 877 yards and 7 touchdowns last season. Williams, a senior, had 59 catches for 957 yards and 11 touchdowns.
