Texas Tech wants nothing to do with your Longhorn Network, Texas, so much so that they'd rather pay off an opponent - the newly FBS-minted Texas State program, now of the WAC - than contribute to a channel designed specifically to fatten UT's pockets.
Because TTU agreed to play Texas State in San Marcos as part of the Bobcats' inaugural run in the Football Bowl Subdivision, the game was considered for LHN because of ESPN's TV deal with the WAC. While LHN is designed specifically to showcase the University of Texas, it's also considered a member of the ESPN family, and can option other non-Longhorn events.
Except now, Texas Tech and Texas State won't be one of them:
I was just told LHN/ESPN will not pursue the Texas State-Texas Tech fball game that had raised blood pressure of #TTech officials.
