Javale McGee Has A 6'7 Sister Who Will Play For Texas Next Year

Tucked away in a predictably fascinating Sports Illustrated profile of Javale McGee, everyone's favorite NBA player, was this interesting note:

Imani Stafford is a 6'7" senior at Windward High in Los Angeles, and she is committed to Texas for next fall. She, too, can jam.

If that can't get you interested in women's basketball, nothing can.

Just the other day, I was wondering whether 6'8 Baylor superstar Brittney Griner, the first female player to ever play above the rim, would find a rival who could look her eye-to-eye.

Stafford was a McDonald's All-American, but it's way too soon to say whether she'll be able to match some of Griner's accomplishments at the college level.

However, her addition to a Texas program that has underachieved in recent years, to the point where high-profile coach Gail Goestenkors stepped down after the season, definitely adds some intrigue to the Big 12 women's basketball season in 2012/2013.
