Iowa State vs. Texas score update: Longhorns lead Cyclones after 3 quarters, 23-7

No. 17 Texas tacked on three points in the third quarter, extending its lead to 23-7 over Iowa State entering the final quarter of play in Austin.

The No. 17 Texas Longhorns hold a 23-7 lead over the Iowa State Cyclones after three quarters of play at Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin. Longhorns placekicker Nick Jordan hit a 37-yard field goal at the 10:31 mark of the third quarter to extend his team's lead.

Texas quarterback David Ash entered the quarter with just one incomplete pass. Although he has added four more of those since then, Ash still owns an 82-percent completion rate with 324 yards and two touchdowns in the game.

Running backs Joe Bergeron and Johnathan Gray have combined for 138 yards on the ground for the Longhorns, who have racked up nearly 500 yards of total offense in the game. Wide receiver Mike Davis had already eclipsed the century mark, catching 8 balls for 115 yards and a touchdown, and Jaxon Shipley isn't far behind, gaining 99 yards on seven receptions.

Iowa State quarterback Steele Jantz is 11 of 22 for 101 yards and a touchdown, while also being picked off once. The Cyclones have accumulated 141 rushing yards, led by Shontrelle Johnson's 57 yards on nine carries.
