The Texas Longhorns escaped Lawrence with a 21-17 victory over the Kansas Jayhawks, and despite the less-than-impressive victory Texas jumped two spots in this week's USA Today Coaches Poll, coming in at No. 22.
Alabama remains the consensus No. 1 in the poll, with the Oregon Ducks holding the No. 2 spot and Big 12 conference foe Kansas State coming in at No. 3. Undefeated Notre Dame and one-loss LSU round out the Top 5. The Florida Gators, previously ranked No. 3, dropped to No. 8 after a 17-9 loss to Georgia.
Texas is one of five Big 12 teams to be included in this week's rankings. Kansas State sits third, Oklahoma is No. 12, Texas Tech is No. 20 and Oklahoma State is ranked No. 24.
The Longhorns hit the road next weekend, taking on the Texas Tech Red Raiders in Lubbock. Texas Tech is coming off a 55-24 drubbing at the hands of Kansas State.
