No, the Texas Longhorns aren't going to be playing for the BCS title this year, and they almost certainly will not be participating in a BCS bowl game of any kind.
Still, the Longhorns can have a successful year in 2012. The latest bowl projections over at CBS Sports have Texas playing the Alamo Bowl -- against the Oregon Ducks. The Alamo Bowl pits the No. 3 team from the Big 12 against the No. 2 team from the Pac-12.
The Ducks are one of the few teams that are vying for a spot in the BCS title game, but, Jerry Palm anticipates Oregon losing the Pac-12 to the USC Trojans, and thus, out of both the title picture and the Rose Bowl picture.
The Big 12 is well represented in the BCS projections. The Kansas St. Wildcats are projected to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide in the BCS title game, while the Oklahoma Sooners are projected to take on the Boise St. Broncos in the Fiesta Bowl.
