Baylor vs. Texas score update: Longhorns lead Bears 42-31

The shootout continued as the Texas Longhorns scored four touchdowns in the second quarter to enter the half leading the Baylor Bears, 42-31.

The Longhorns got the quarter started quickly with a touchdown to even things up at 21-21. Running back Joe Bergeron ran in his second score of the game from two yards out.

It didn’t take long for the Bears to answer, as quarterback Nick Florence and the Baylor offense marched down the field. The score came on Florence’s second touchdown pass of the game, this one to wide receiver Lanear Sampson.

The Longhorns came right back and knotted the contest up at 28. Another Bergeron rushing touchdown was set up by a 70 yard kickoff return by Texas running back D.J. Monroe.

After three consecutive second quarter drives ended in touchdowns, the defense was finally able to step up for a stop as Florence was intercepted by Longhorns cornerback Josh Turner. Texas took advantage of the mistake as Johnathan Gray became the fourth Longhorns running back to record a rushing touchdown.

Texas’ defense produced another stop, and the offense registered a 66-yard drive that ended in Bergeron’s fourth rushing touchdown of the game.

The Bears were able to drive down to the Longhorns 12-yard line, but they only managed a field goal before half.
