Bo Wallace To Visit Longhorns

Here's an interesting development: Bo Wallace, the top QB in the junior college ranks last season, is going to visit withTexas Longhorns staff this weekend. Jason Suchomel of Orangebloods.com says that Bryan Harsin has been in contact with Wallace and his coaches at East Mississippi Community College. Suchomel also spoke with Wallace:

He (Harsin) talked to my coaches last week I think. He said they were trying to see how Case (McCoy) and (David) Ash played in the bowl game. McCoy didn't really play. He said when we talked that he wanted to get a gauge on my interest and everything that's going on.

The whole situation, being Texas, they go straight to the top. If I'm coming on a visit, I'm really excited about it.

Texas is desperate to sort out their QB situation. Garrett Gilbert, Case McCoy and David Ash all consistently struggled throughout the season, with little progress from McCoy and Ash as the season progressed. Gilbert transferred, leaving McCoy, Ash and incoming freshman Connor Brewer as the prime competitors for the job.

Wallace might be the fit that Harsin is looking for. He was the NJCAA player of the year, setting records for yards, passing yards and TDs, and winning a national title. He's looking at Mississippi, Mississippi St. and apparently Baylor, now that the Bears will likely be without Robert Griffin III. He's tall - 6'4" - and, at least from his stat line, appears to be more in the mold of a pure passer than a dual-threat guy.
