Oklahoma Holds Top Spot In AP Poll, Texas & Baylor Crack Rankings

Oklahoma’s easy win over Tulsa was enough to hold their number one ranking atop the AP Poll. The Sooners received 32 of 60 first place votes. LSU moved up to No. 2 after their impressive win over Oregon, who dropped to No. 13. Alabama, Boise State and Florida State round out the top five.

Texas A&M follows Stanford at No. 7, and Oklahoma State checks in again at No. 9. Wisconsin and Nebraska round out the top ten.

Baylor enters the poll at No. 20 after hanging 50 on TCU, who fell to No. 25. The Bears will have an opportunity to pad their record the next two weeks, going up against Stephen F. Austin and Rice. Texas also enters the poll, moving to No. 24 from the top spot among others receiving votes in the preseason rankings. BYU, the Longhorns’ next opponent, was seventh among others receiving votes this week.

With Missouri at No. 21, the Big 12 checks in with a total of six out of ten teams ranked this week.
