2011 Big 12 Tournament: Oklahoma Routs Baylor

(Sports Network) – Cade Davis tallied 24 points and the 10th- seeded Oklahoma Sooners upended the seventh-seeded Baylor Bears, 84-67, in a first-round matchup of the Big 12 Championship at the Sprint Center.

Davis finished the game 4-of-8 from long range and with four rebounds for the Sooners (14-17), who will next face second-seeded Texas in the quarterfinals on Thursday. Carl Blair registered a double-double with 14 points and 11 assists, while Steven Pledger and Cameron Clark chipped in with 10 points apiece.

Quincy Acy paced Baylor (18-13) in defeat with a double-double of 21 points and 15 rebounds. Anthony Jones added 13 points and five rebounds, while LaceDarius Dunn was limited to 11 points. Dunn, who averaged 19.8 ppg during the regular season, shot just 3-of-14 from the field and only 1-of-7 from long distance.

Oklahoma knocked down 56.0 percent of its attempts from the floor in the first half, as it jumped out to 39-22 halftime advantage.

The Sooners shot an even better 60.0 percent from the floor in the second half to claim the 17-point victory.

Oklahoma made good on 9-of-18 shots from behind the arc and 29-of-33 at the foul line for the game.

Baylor played without freshman Perry Jones III, who was declared ineligible just before the game for a pre-enrollment amateurism violation. Jones leads all Big 12 freshmen in scoring (13.9 ppg) and his presence was obviously missed tonight. Baylor has appealed the NCAA’s decision to have his eligibility reinstated.
