The final regular season edition of 2011 Bracketology is up at SB Nation and despite there not being any new additions to the Field of 68, there was quite a bit of re-seeding. The Texas Longhorns, who not long ago looked to be on track for a No. 1 seed, are now in danger of falling off the 2-line after their recent struggles. The Horns did hold on to beat Baylor on the road this weekend, so a No. 2 seed is still very much in play provided Texas doesn’t stumble in its opening round game of the Big 12 Tournament. A trip to the Finals all but ensures them a 2 seed, but a semi-final loss could drop them to a No. 3 seeding considering how they’ve struggled down the stretch.
In SB Nation’s latest mock bracket, the Longhorns are the No. 3 seed in the West regional. Their opponent? The 14th seeded Long Beach State 49ers who play in the Big West Conference.
Stay tuned for more college basketball updates throughout the week as conference tournaments are played across the country, and the field for this year’s March Madness is determined.
