Draft Website Claims Tristan Thompson Has Signed With Agent

NBA draft site NBADraft.net reported over the weekend that the Longhorns’ Tristan Thompson has signed with an agent and will therefore enter the draft this summer. Many thought that the site was confused, since the University of North Texas also has a Tristan Thompson, and their version did just sign with an agent.

Burnt Orange Nation’s Peter Bean said today that he contacted the site to ask about the possible confusion. He was told that there is no mistake.

I emailed the reporter and asked if he had possibly been confused and was told that no, he meant the Tristan Thompson with the Longhorns. I asked further if he would be willing to give me some information on his source(s), and he politely declined, but added that based on where he got the information, he was “99% sure” it was accurate.

No one will be too surprised if Thompson does enter the draft. He is considered by many as a lottery candidate, and many top players have changed their minds after declaring that they would stay in school. Whether this site scooped everyone by several days, we’ll just have to wait and see.
