Bowl Projections, Week 14: Baylor, Texas Battle To Determine Holiday Bowl

A trip to San Diego is likely at stake this Saturday when the Longhorns and Bears meet; TCU nearly set to visit Las Vegas.

The Baylor Bears could leave Saturday's season finale with the Longhorns as the best of Texas from the Big 12 this season, and visit sunny San Diego and the Holiday Bowl. Baylor, currently 8-3, would likely still trail Kansas State (9-2) for a potential Cotton Bowl berth.

Much depends on the BCS aspirations for the Big 12 - if the conference sends one both Oklahoma teams, every remaining team would take a step up in the pecking order for bowl affiliation. Texas could have a shot at the Holiday, or if they lose Saturday, the Insight Bowl against a Big 10 opponent (Sports Illustrated and ESPN are divided between the Bears and 'Horns).

SMU closed their regular season with a three-point win over Rice in the Mayor's Cup to finish 7-5, a mark most pundits project will put them in the Hawaii Bowl on December 24 against WAC representative Nevada. TCU, meanwhile, is thought to be a lock for the MAACO Las Vegas Bowl against a coach-less Arizona State team, although one SI projection had the Horned Frogs in the Poinsettia Bowl December 23 against Louisiana Tech.
