Texas Vs. Kansas St.: Longhorns Turn To Case McCoy, See Quick Results

David Ash struggled against Missouri a week ago, and once Mack Brown determined that the offense was not going to move with Ash under center, he substituted Case McCoy. McCoy was unable to turn things around, and the Longhorns settled for a five-point output.

Fast forward one week. Ash had just thrown his second poorly thrown interception and had accounted for just three points late in the third quarter. Brown once again opted for McCoy, but the immediate results have been much better.

Kansas State had added a second touchdown early in the third, so McCoy entered the game facing a 14-point deficit. On his first drive the run game spotted him 30 yards, moving the ball to midfield. McCoy took it from there, though, hitting Marquise Goodwin and Mike Davis and then scrambling and finding Blaine Irby behind the defense for a 36-yard TD strike.

Kansas State then went three-and-out, setting up McCoy at his 40.

Current score: Kansas State 17, Texas 10 – 1:55 remaining in the 3rd quarter
