Mack Brown Hires Bryan Harsin As Offensive Coordinator Of Longhorns

Just days after announcing Manny Diaz as the Longhorns' new defensive coordinator, Mack Brown has found his new offensive coordinator. Boise State's Bryan Harsin will take over as offensive coordinator, replacing Greg Davis. Harsin held the same position in Boise and has helped transform the Broncos into an offensive juggernaut in the FBS.

Texas had an anemic offense this year - to put it nicely. The Longhorns ranked 88th in the FBS in scoring, averaging a paltry 23.8 points per game - a big reason why Texas did not become bowl eligible this year. The Broncos, by contrast, with Harsin at the offensive helm, averaged over 45 points per game this year - good for second in the FBS. Granted, Boise State plays in a much inferior conference than Texas does.

Still, it's encouraging for the Longhorns. Watching Texas' offense this year was pretty difficult to do. Hopefully this is a spark that helps reestablish Texas as a national power again.
