The TCU Horned Frogs will be adding a former head coach to their staff, according to ESPNDallas. The Horned Frogs are set to name Randy Shannon their linebackers coach. Shannon was formerly the head coach for the Miami Hurricanes.

He has not coached since 2010 but is familiar with the TCU program.

Shannon spent last football season traveling to various programs to learn about how they work, including Alabama, UNLV, Oregon and TCU, among others.

An official announcement is expected to be made in the next few days. The position opened up on the coaching staff after Tony Tademy resigned last week.

Shannon spent four seasons as the coach of the Hurricanes, amassing a record of 28-20. He led the team to three bowl games.

He has ties to Texas as he was a member of the Dallas Cowboys from 1989 to 1990.
