Top seeded Mississippi Valley State (20-12) is hoping to move to the field of 68 in the NCAA Tournament, with one game remaining against No. 2 seed Texas Southern in the 2012 SWAC Tournament Championship game.
The Devil Dogs have been shaky as of late, losing their first and only regular season SWAC game last weekend before scraping by rival Jackson State 63-60 in the opening round. Meanwhile, upstart Texas Southern (13-17) moved past Alcorn State 60-55 and will look to upset Valley, who swept TSU in the regular season in 2012.
Valley's win Saturday would cap a remarkable run, after winning only one game in non-conference play before a 17-game SWAC winning streak.
