The TCU Horned Frogs and the No. 21 West Virginia Mountaineers are headed to overtime after a pair of big plays led to a 31-31 score at the end of the regulation.
After a 26-yard field goal by TCU's Jared Oberkrom tied the game, the Mountaineers and Horned Frogs each struggled to get much rhythm going offensively. Tavon Austin rescued the game for WVU, though, with a 76-yard punt return for a touchdown with just over three minutes remaining in the game.
While the Horned Frogs were stopped on the ensuing possession, they afforded themselves one more opportunity to tie the game after stopping the Mountaineers' offense. Although Trevone Boykin was sacked on the first play of the subsequent drive, he scrambled inside his own 5-yard line until he found Josh Boyce for a 94-yard touchdown to tie the game. The Mountaineers managed to set up a 55-yard field goal attempt to win for Tyler Bitancurt, but the attempt went wide left.
This is the second week in a row that TCU has gone in to extra time; they lost in triple overtime to Texas Tech last week.
