A conference title race can make for some strange bedfellows.
Oklahoma and Kansas State are currently tied atop the Big 12 with one conference loss, but because the Sooners lost to the Wildcats on Sept. 22, Bill Snyder's team will have the tie-breaker, as well as an automatic entry into a BCS bowl, if both teams win on Saturday.
That's why the Sooners will be rooting for their archrivals from Austin, who travel to Manhattan to play Kansas State this week (courtesy of the Austin American-Statesman):
"Let's go, Texas!" OU senior starting defensive tackle Casey Walker said Monday at the team's news conference.
Walker wouldn't flash the Hook 'em, Horns sign, but he said, "We need them to handle business so that it puts us in a better spot."
Of course, Oklahoma needs to take care of business against a game TCU squad first, as the Frogs come into Saturday's game riding the momentum of a 20-13 victory over Texas in Austin on Thanksgiving.
Even if the Wildcats win, a win over TCU would put the Sooners in a good position to grab an at-large berth to a BCS game.
