Head coaches Trent Johnson and Larry Brown have begun their new respective campaigns with the TCU Horned Frogs and SMU Mustangs undefeated, but that will change for one of them when the two teams meet Thursday night.
Brown and the Mustangs won their season-opener on Nov. 11 at home over Loyola Marymount, 73-58, as all five starters scored in double figures in the victory.
TCU is off to a 2-0 start under Johnson, with defeats of Cal Poly and Centenary under their belt so far. Through two games, sophomore guard Kyan Anderson leads the team in scoring with 11.5 points per game, shooting 63.6 percent from the field and 62.5 percent from behind the three-point line.
For SMU, junior guard Nick Russell led the Mustangs to their lone win, scoring 19 points on 6-of-15 shooting from the floor.
Johnson previously coached at LSU and Stanford, while Brown spent much of his coaching career in the NBA with teams such as the Philadelphia 76ers, Detroit Pistons and New York Knicks.
Tipoff is set 7 p.m. CT tonight at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.
