The Iowa State Cyclones hold a 16-10 halftime lead over the No. 15 TCU Horned Frogs at Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas. The Horned Frogs had a couple of opportunities to put additional points on the board, but two fumbles by freshman running back B.J. Catalon prevented that from happening.
The Frogs' defense stepped up and ensured that the Cyclones would not capitalize on the turnovers, as TCU forced Iowa State into three consecutive 3-and-outs. TCU did a better job taking care of the ball in its fourth possession of the quarter, putting together a 10-play, 59-yard drive that was capped off by a Jaden Oberkrom field goal.
TCU forced a bad pass from Iowa State quarterback Jared Barnett with just over a minute left in the half, and the Frogs were rewarded with an interception. However, the Cyclones were able to come up with a big stop to keep TCU from getting any closer.
TCU freshman quarterback Trevone Boykin completed 12 of 19 passes for 131 yards and a touchdown in the half. Meanwhile, Barnett finished the half with 153 yards and two touchdowns, but wasn't able to do much of anything in the second quarter.
