Iowa State is off to a 3-1 start in 2012, but after a 24-13 loss to Texas Tech on Saturday, whispers are growing about the job security of starting quarterback Steele Jantz.
Jantz, a senior, has had an up-and-down career in Ames, and many Cyclone fans are ready to give Barrett, a sophomore, another chance at the job. Jantz narrowly won a position battle between the two before the season started.
Through four games, Jantz has completed 67 percent of his passes for 804 yards, seven touchdowns and seven interceptions.
He's also coming off one of the worst performances of his career, a disastrous outing against the Red Raiders where he completed 10 of 20 passes for only 73 yards and three interceptions.
However, Jantz can hardly be the only person to blame for an offense that accounted for only 183 total yards last Saturday.
If Iowa State gets off to another slow start against TCU, you can bet the calls to give Barrett another chance at the job will come quickly.
