Gary Patterson, TCU Agree On Contract Extension Through 2018

Gary Patterson should grab a Snickers. The Rose Bowl winning coach and TCU have agreed on a contract extension through the 2018 season.

After taking over for Dennis Franchione, Patterson has gone 98-28 with six bowl wins in nine bowl appearances, including 1-1 in BCS bowls. Patterson has coached the Horned Frogs to one Conference USA title, three Mountain West Conference titles and hopefully for Horned Frog fans, a few Big East titles by the time his contract is up.

Of course, these contract extensions can be a bit of a farce as well. If an extremely prestigious school with a good situation has a head coaching vacancy and contacts Patterson, there's really nothing stopping him from bolting from TCU and taking another job.

It's a good time to be a TCU fan. The Horned Frogs will soon be in the Big East (hello, automatic BCS bid), are coming off a Rose Bowl win and just locked up their head coach through 2018 - on paper, at least.
