The Texas A&M Aggies and Southern Methodist Mustangs are scoreless after one quarter at Gerald Ford Stadium in Dallas. The two teams have combined for just over 100 yards of total offense thus far.
The Aggies nearly scored near the end of the quarter, as wide receiver Malcome Kennedy just missed hauling in a touchdown pass from quarterback Johnny Manziel on 4th and 2. However, the Aggies would turn it over on downs, before forcing the Mustangs to punt with a few seconds remaining in the quarter. Texas A&M will have solid field position to begin the second, as a strange punt return and fumble combination allowed the Aggies to get to the SMU 42 yard line.
Manziel completed four of eight passes for 58 yards in the quarter, while SMU quarterback Garrett Gilbert completed half of his 10 attempts for just 30 yards. The two teams combined to go 0-for-8 on third downs in the quarter.
