Both Texas A&M and SMU will be looking to improve on slow starts to the season. After getting their first game of the year against Louisiana Tech postponed due to hurricane conditions, Texas A&M was thrown right into the proverbial fire against the Florida Gators and took a 20-17 loss. Meanwhile, SMU did win their second game of the season 52-0 over FCS school Stephen F. Austin, but only after being dismantled by Baylor in their first game of the year.
SMU will be looking for a performance out of their defense similar to the one they had against SFA, where they put together a string of great plays and defensive touchdowns en route to their 52-0 win. They'll have their hands full against the Aggie offense led by duel threat QB Johnny Manziel. Manziel had 60 rushing yards and 173 passing yards against the Gators.
