The Tulsa Golden Hurricane are all alone atop the Conference USA standings after their 23-21 victory over the Central Florida Knights on Saturday. UCF is now tied atop the East division with the East Carolina Pirates at 6-1.
Tulsa clinched a spot in the conference championship game with its win and the SMU Mustangs' 36-14 loss to the Rice Owls. UCF either needs to win its final regular-season game against the UAB Blazers, or needs East Carolina to lose to the Marshall Thundering Herd, to force a rematch.
Tulsa, UCF and East Carolina have all clinched bowl eligibility. Marshall, SMU and Rice all need to win their final games to join the big three.
The Southern Miss Golden Eagles remain winless in conference play and for the season after dropping a 1-point decision to the UTEP Miners at home. They have one more shot at a victory on Nov. 24 on the road against the 3-8 Memphis Tigers.
