2012 Conference USA Football Standings: SMU loss puts Mustangs in middle of division

Southern Methodist's weekend loss drops the Mustangs to the middle of the West Division in the 2012 Conference USA football standings.

Southern Methodist's loss to previously winless Tulane dropped the Mustangs to the middle of the pack in the West Division of the Conference USA standings. The 27-26 victory by the Green Wave moved Tulane's record to 1-5 on the year and tied them with SMU at 1-1 in conference play.

Both teams are chasing 6-1 Tulsa, who is already bowl eligible and ahead of the game with four C-USA games played, all of which they've won. Houston is in second place in the West, while Rice and UTEP sit in the bottom of the division with 0-3 marks in conference games.

Central Florida leads the East at 2-0 while East Carolina is right behind UCF at 3-1 in C-USA play.
