The Tulane Green Wave lead the SMU Mustangs, 20-6, at halftime thanks to a pair of touchdown passes by quarterback Ryan Griffin.
Griffin hit Robert Kelley early in the first quarter for a 31-yard touchdown to give the Green Wave the first lead of the game, 7-0. Then, with just over two minutes left in the second quarter, Griffin and Marc Edwards connected for a 79-yard score to extend the Tulane lead to 17-6.
Cairo Santos hit two field goals, from 44 yards in the first quarter and 35 as time expired in the second, to put Tulane ahead, 20-6, at the half.
SMU junior quarterback Garrett Gilbert was 13-of-25 passing in the first half for 134 yards. Zach Line carried the ball 12 times for the Mustangs, gaining 69 yards.
Chase Hover had the only points for SMU, hitting 2-of-3 field goal attempts from 27 and 22 yards.
Tulane is looking for its first win of the season after starting 0-5, including 0-1 in the conference. SMU enters the game 2-3 on the year and 1-0 in Conference USA play.
Tulane will receive the ball to start the second half.
