Army added a late 44-yard field goal to take a 16-point lead to the lockerroom in Dallas. The half was marked by SMU turnovers, as Army’s Alex McNary returned a fumble by Kyle Padron for the first score, and Padron was picked off twice. The first interception killed a promising SMU drive late in the first quarter, and the second led to the Army field goal.
SMU has piled up 224 yards but have only managed eight first downs and have been thwarted by the turnovers. Army has only attempted four passes but has played a nearly flawless game, with no turnovers or penalties. They will receive the second half kickoff.
