Troubled Dallas guard Delonte West was waived by the organization on Monday, one day before the team's 2012-13 season opener.

Less than a week after being suspended by the organization for the second time this fall, Dallas Mavericks shooting guard Delonte West was waived by the team on Monday afternoon, according to John Schuhmann of NBA.com.

The 29-year-old West started 33 of 44 games for head coach Rick Carlisle and the Mavericks last season, and re-signed with the organization in July after averaging 9.6 points per game and setting a career-high 88.6% free-throw percentage.

West was initially suspended earlier in the month for what the Mavericks referred to as "conduct detrimental to the team" after a reported locker room outburst. But after not actually missing any preseason time due to the initial suspension, West was then suspended a second time just days later by Carlisle and the team.

An eight-year NBA veteran who is most likely in search of his fifth NBA franchise, West's career has been marred by off-the-court issues since entering the league in 2004. Although the incident was deemed to be related to his bipolar disorder, the shooting guard's reputation was damaged significantly in 2009 after being arrested on a weapons charge.

Cuban says Dallas will not rush into decision

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban told reporters on Friday that the team has not made a decision regarding suspended guard Delonte West returning to the team. This refutes an earlier report that the Mavericks were exploring waiving or buying out West, who has been suspended twice in the past two weeks.

Cuban was quoted as saying:

"I'll make the decision. No decision has been made, but we're also not in any rush to make a decision."

West's first suspension came October 15th, but lasted less than a day. West was suspended again October 25th, with an official reason of "conduct detrimental to the team." No explanation has been given by the Mavericks, but West has stated that the most recent suspension stems from a locker room argument after Wednesday's exhibition loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

West, who has been diagnosed with bi-polar disorder, has also stated via Twitter than the incidents leading to his suspensions are unrelated to the disorder.

The Mavericks have claimed Eddy Curry off waivers and plan to make room on the roster by either trading or cutting Delonte West.

It hasn't been a good few days for Delonte West. He was suspended today for the second time this week after allegedly being blamed for an argument between two Dallas Mavericks teammates. Earlier in the week, he was suspended after an apparent disagreement over playing time, but the issue was resolved the same day. Now, he may be on his way out of Dallas:

To make room for Curry on the roster, the Mavs will reportedly trade or cut West. The 29-year old Curry has played in just 24 games in the last three seasons. He spent last year with the Miami Heat and played in 14 games, averaging 2.1 points in 5.9 minutes. The Mavs need help in the front court as forward Dirk Nowitzki could be out for six weeks after having arthroscopic surgery on his right knee last week. Center Chris Kaman is also dealing with an injured right calf. Curry played in five games for the San Antonio Spurs before being cut this preseason. He averaged 8.4 points and 3.6 rebounds in 15.4 minutes with the Spurs.

The Dallas Mavericks have suspended Delonte West indefinitely for a second time this preseason, but the team isn't commenting any further on its decision.

The Dallas Mavericks have, once again, suspended guard Delonte West indefinitely for conduct detrimental to the team, according to a team press release and as tweeted by NBA.com's John Schuhmann.

Details could be hard to come by. In a statement, team president Donnie Nelson said, "No other statements will be issued."

West claims he is being blamed for an argument between two teammates.

It's the second such suspension for West in the past couple of weeks. Head coach Rick Carlisle suspended West in mid-October for a locker-room outburst following a preseason game. That suspension was also labeled as indefinite, but West was later cleared to play the Mavs' next preseason game and missed no time.

It's just the latest in a growing list of troubles for West, who in 2009 was arrested for a weapons charge that was later attributed to the guard's being diagnosed with bipolar disorder. West was suspended by the NBA for 10 games at the time.

This would be the 8-year veteran's second season in Dallas. Last season, West averaged 9.6 points and 3.2 assists per game mostly coming off the bench, right around his career averages of 9.7 and 3.6 points per game. He re-signed with Dallas in July.

The Dallas Mavericks have reinstated Delonte West after suspending the guard about 12 hours ago on Tuesday morning, according to a report by Tim MacMahon of ESPNDallas.com.

After a meeting with head coach Rick Carlisle and president of basketball operations Donnie Nelson this afternoon, West's suspension was lifted. Nelson, in the report, texted the message "Back on track" following the meeting.

West was suspended for conduct detrimental to the team following "an outburst in the locker room," according to MacMahon's report, after the Mavericks 123-104 preseason victory over the Houston Rockets on Monday night. West logged two points, a rebound and two assists in 16 minutes of play Monday against the Rockets.

Providing defensive toughness and versatility on the offensive end off the bench in Dallas last season, West averaged 9.6 points per game, 3.2 assists and 2.3 rebounds per game in about 24 minutes a night. Playing in 44 regular season contests, the eight-year veteran shot 46.1 percent from the floor.

The Dallas Mavericks have suspended Delonte West indefinitely for an unspecified amount of time.

Guard Delonte West has been suspended indefinitely by the Dallas Mavericks for conduct detrimental to the team, as reported by ESPN. Head coach Rick Carlisle hasn't specified a timetable for West's return.

ESPN's sources said the suspension stems from an outburst following the Mavericks' 123-104 preseason win over the Houston Rockets on Monday. West scored two points with two assists in 16 minutes of playing time.

West has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, which could be a reason for any behavioral problems. ESPN cites the disorder as a cause for a 2009 weapons arrest that resulted in eight months of house arrest and a 10-game suspension from the NBA.

2012-13 is the second year in Dallas for the eight-year veteran. Last season, West averaged 9.6 points and 3.2 assists per game mostly coming off the bench, right around his career averages of 9.7 and 3.6 points per game. He re-signed with Dallas in July.
