Texas QB David Ash will miss a few weeks with a broken wrist. However, there is good news out of Longhorns camp, as DT Brandon Moore was released from the hospital on Sunday.

Texas Longhorns quarterback David Ash reportedly has a broken left wrist, according to David Smoak at Orangebloods.com (via Burnt Orange Nation). In addition, defensive tackle Brandon Moore left the Longhorn's blowout loss against the Oklahoma Sooners with a neck injury.

Ash will not play against Baylor on Saturday, and could miss additional time beyond that. Meanwhile, Moore was hospitalized after leaving the field on a stretcher. He underwent tests at a local hospital, and everything came back normal, per Texas associate athletic director John Bianco. Moore was released from the hospital on Sunday. Defensive end Jackson Jeffcoat hurt his shoulder in the game as well, and will be evaluated upon returning to Austin, per Carlton.

The TCU Horned Frogs have been battling injury problems all season, but they walked away from their win over Baylor relatively unscathed.
Seven Big 12 teams were ranked in the initial BCS rankings, but four SEC teams ranked in the top 10.

The Big 12 leads the way with seven teams in the initial 2012 BCS rankings. Kansas State is the top conference team, checking in at No. 4.

The SEC may trail the Big 12 with six ranked teams, but the conference that has long been considered by many to be the nation's best features four teams ranked in the top 10, including No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Florida. LSU and South Carolina are ranked Nos. 6 and 7, respectively. Oklahoma is the only other top-10 Big 12 team. The Sooners are ranked No. 9.

Oregon is No. 3 in the year's first rankings, and Notre Dame rounds out the top five. Oregon State is No. 9, and USC is slotted at No. 10.

The majority of Big 12 teams are ranked between Nos. 13 through 25. West Virginia is 13th, and Texas Tech, fresh off an upset of the Mountaineers is 17th. TCU, Iowa State and Texas are ranked 23rd, 24th and 25th.

Is a devastating loss in Dallas that ended with their QB knocked out and the Longhorns crying uncle the beginning of the end in Austin?

Only one team was going to come out of this rivalry game with a chance to have a big season. In a game that summed up the Rivalry in the Brown vs. Stoops era, Oklahoma answered the bell and Texas let Bell run for 4 touchdowns.

The Sooners came to play and brought some fire to the trenches where they stuffed Texas' first four drives and forced three-and-outs. On their fifth drive Texas tried to air the ball out and build some positive momentum in a game that was quickly getting out of control. Oklahoma cornerback Aaron Colvin intercepted a deep post and the beating continued.

Heading into the game, Texas was in danger of having an identity as a team with a soft run defense and finesse offense. They had struggled to establish the running game against OSU and West Virginia while yielding 7.7 yards per carry in their three games against BCS Conference opponents.

Against OU, Texas gave up 343 rushing yards at 6.7 yards per carry while only rushing for 74 yards themselves, mostly with the game well in hand for the Sooners. Stoops' team thoroughly dominated the trenches, a reoccurring theme in his 9-5 performances against Mack Brown, and set the tone for the game with physical play at every position.

Early on, the Sooners came out on offense in the pistol formation with one or two fullbacks, making it clear that they were going to relentlessly hammer the Texas run defense until they heard "Uncle!"

After the game, Coach Stoops was coy about whether these formations and plays would define the Sooners in conference play but it was clear that their offense thrived with the play-action and space in the passing game afforded by the run-heavy approach. Star fullback Trey Millard finally found himself featured in the gameplan and responded with 164 total yards of offense, a touchdown, several big blocks for Damien Williams (who ran for 167 yards himself), and a few highlights jumping over Texas defenders.

Even the Oklahoma receivers got in on the action with Kenny Stills blindsiding Quandre Diggs who was attempting to stop Damien Williams' 95 yard touchdown run. All the big hits in this game were being delivered by Sooners to Longhorns and the overall result was a bruising defeat that destroyed the image of a physical, Power-run game oriented Texas team.

While Oklahoma was finding their identity behind their loaded backfield and suffocating defense, Texas was watching the season run away from them...after first running them over. Meanwhile the player who was carrying the team while the running game stalled and the defense was getting throttled, David Ash, left the game with a swollen wrist and a doubtful prognosis for at least the near future.

I feel overmatched. I always thought when I got older God would sort of come into my life in some way. He didn't. I don't blame him. If I was him I'd have the same opinion about me that he does.

-Ed Tom Bell

Watcha got ain't nothin new. This country's hard on people. You can't stop what's coming, it ain't all waitin' on you. That's vanity.

Ellis

Mack Brown has been the head coach at Texas for 15 years, 14 of those years came with Bob Stoops coaching Oklahoma. The second time they faced off the score was OU 63 Texas 14. Since then, Oklahoma has added gems such as 65-19, 12-0, 55-17, and now 63-21.

In 2008, there was a wind of change in the air and a sense that UT would no longer be Stoops' personal doormat after five consecutive losses to initiate the aughts, but the last two years have seen Oklahoma outscore Texas 118-38, and most of the 38 Texas points came against the 2nd team Sooner defense.

When asked after the game why Oklahoma always seemed to come out with more fire in this game Mack said,

I don't know. It is what it is. They just hit us. I don't know how to define it in one word.

-Mack Brown

Overmatched was the word Mack was looking for, Texas is overmatched by Oklahoma and today's Big 12. They shouldn't be, they still have more talent and resources than anyone else in the league. They are overmatched because Mack Brown is overmatched. He has been unable to develop the considerable talent he amasses both on the field and in his coaching staff into an overall product that can match Stoops' program at Oklahoma or match the expectations that his own success has created.

Despite the numerous blowouts Texas has endured against Oklahoma, Mack Brown doesn't have answers for how this keeps happening or how to prevent it from continuing to occur. At 61 years old, and after his attempt to overhaul and rejuvenate the program with the staff changes after 2010, it's hard to believe that Mack has anything left to offer.

From here on out Texas will struggle to find meaning for this season. With Ash injured and two of the season's biggest games already over what motivation exists for this Texas team? Winning one or two more games than last year? This team's identity is shattered, the future is completely unclear, and season's goals of winning 10 games and competing for the league crown are lost.

The Red River Shootout has concluded for another year and exposed the terrible warts in the Texas program once again. This is a tradition that cannot continue, but it may until Mack Brown rides out into the sunset and gives up his attempt to redefine a legacy that's already written in stone.

After the 63-21 loss to the No. 13 Oklahoma Sooners, questions once again arose about Mack Brown's ability to coach the No. 15 Texas Longhorns out of the pit the program had fallen into in 2010. The Longhorns appeared to be headed back into the conversation as a national contender after starting the season 4-0, but two straight losses has the Longhorns potentially falling out of the AP Top 25.

It wasn't just the loss, however, it was yet another blowout loss to OU at the hands of Bob Stoops. The loss was indicative of all the historical problems that Brown's teams have had with the Sooners, and Wescott Eberts of Burnt Orange Nation takes a hard look at the state of the team's head coach:

At some programs, the simple answer would be to fire the head coach. For the Longhorns right now, as Brown isn't going to be pushed out, but does appear to need some type of quarterbacking brilliance just to win a game against Bob Stoops right now.

After the game, IMG radio man Ted Emrich said Brown was as beaten down after the game as he's been in the five seasons he's covered the Longhorns. As he should have been, but considering that hangdog Mack was supposed to have been banished as the result of his post-2010 changes, seeing that person again is alarming.

Riding a balanced offensive attack and a dominant defensive effort, the Oklahoma Sooners crushed the Texas Longhorns 63-21 in the Red River Rivalry at the Cotton Bowl on Saturday afternoon. The 13th-ranked Sooners never looked in danger as they continue their recovery from a loss to Kansas State three weeks ago.

Until the end, the blowout approached the series margin of victory record. In 2003, Oklahoma topped Texas by 52 points.

While the Longhorns managed to put 21 points on the scoreboard, the offense looked inept practically all afternoon. Only 13 of the team's points were provided by the offensive unit, which mustered just 289 total yards and 14 first downs against the Sooners' defense, much of that coming once the game was already well in hand.

With the offense struggling, Texas needed a failed extra point attempt by Oklahoma and an interception return by cornerback Carrington Byndom to even get on the scoreboard in the first three quarters. Other than Byndom's pick-six, the defense didn't help much, either, allowing the Sooners to run wild all afternoon.

Oklahoma wasn't as aggressive in the second half, but it still managed to put up 677 total yards and eight touchdowns against the Longhorns' defense. It was an especially even attack, too, as the Sooners piled up 334 yards through the air and 343 yards on the ground.

Box Score Hero: A few different players put up huge numbers for the Sooners on Saturday, led by running back Damien Williams, who rushed for 167 yards and a touchdown. OU also got 321 passing yards from Landry Jones and four first half touchdowns from Blake Bell, who crushed the Texas defense in the red zone.

Rankings Ramifications: Coming off a second consecutive defeat, expect the 15th-ranked Longhorns to take a mighty fall in the rankings this week. A couple weeks ago, it seemed like Mack Brown finally brought Texas back into the national conversation, but the Sooners have quickly put that notion to sleep for now.

But Did They Cover? The Sooners were three-point favorites, so they obviously covered.

Texas defensive tackle Brandon Moore suffered a brutal hit late in the Red River Rivalry and had to be carted off.

Texas Longhorns defensive tackle Brandon Moore was carted off the Cotton Bowl field after taking an apparent knee to the head while rushing Landry Jones. He was down on the turf for several minutes as trainers loaded him onto a cart, removed his face mask and stabilized his head and neck with a brace.

The good news: Holly Rowe reported he's able to move his extremities. His arms were strapped down as a safety precaution, however. Rowe said Moore was trying to find somewhere to put his mouth piece, as he's used to leaving it in his face mask.

Here's the hit that did the damage:

It's a blowout at the Cotton Bowl, where the Texas Longhorns are trailing 36-2 to the Oklahoma Sooners going into halftime on Saturday afternoon.

The Red River Rivalry has turned into a bloodbath for the Texas Longhorns as they trail the Oklahoma Sooners, 36-2, going into halftime on Saturday afternoon. Coming off a razor close defeat against West Virginia last week, the Longhorns can't seem to get anything working on either side of the ball heading into the second half at the Cotton Bowl.

Thirty minutes into Saturday's game, the 13th-ranked Sooners have absolutely dominated the 15th-ranked Longhorns in nearly every way. Regardless of whether you're looking at offense or defense, passing or rushing, Texas has been outclassed so far.

After scoring 45 points against the Mountaineers last week, the Longhorns have put up 65 total yards and nearly as many turnovers (two) as first downs (three). It's a stark contrast from Oklahoma's huge effort: 206 rushing yards, 201 passing yards, five touchdowns and over 20 minutes of possession.

The Longhorns' few points aren't even the result of the offense, as they came as the result of a failed extra point by the Sooners early in the first quarter. It's been all downhill from there, though, with Oklahoma piling on points in front of a packed stadium.

Sooners running back Damien Williams has been the big statistical performer in the first half with 145 rushing yards and a touchdown, but Blake Bell has certainly done his part by running in four touchdowns already as well. Between those two and a solid effort from quarterback Landry Jones, Texas has struggled to keep up.

The Oklahoma Sooners have used a long drive and quick strike to take the early lead over the Texas Longhorns.

The Oklahoma Sooners lead the Texas Longhorns 13-2 at the end of the first quarter of the Red River Rivalry.

The Sooners used a 14-play, 75-yard drive to take the early lead. Oklahoma opted against kicking a field goal on fourth down at the Texas 11-yard line, handing the ball off to quarterback Blake Bell for the first down.
