The Texas Rangers dropped their series finale to the Minnesota Twins on Sunday, 6-5. With the win, the Twins avoided a three-game sweep at the hands of the Rangers in Arlington, Texas.

While the Rangers had a tough time doing anything offensively after the first inning against Twins pitcher Cole De Vries, Texas starter Scott Feldman was busy getting pounded for six runs (five earned) on 10 hits before being able to get out of the sixth inning. By the time the Rangers got things going in the bottom of the sixth (on Josh Hamilton's 35th homer of the year), they were trailing by four runs. Hamilton's shot cut the lead in half, and Nelson Cruz went deep two batters later, trimming the Twins' advantage to 6-5.

Minnesota's bullpen bore down after that, as Casey Fien was key during a stretch of an inning and two-thirds in which he kept the Rangers off the board and struck out three batters in the process. The Rangers' bullpen did its job as well, but by that time it was too late.

The Rangers stay at home for another series starting on Monday, as the Tampa Bay Rays come to town for a key three-game set with possible postseason implications.

The Texas Rangers will look to finish a four-game sweep and extend their winning streak to five games when they face the Minnesota Twins Sunday afternoon at The Ballpark at Arlington. The Rangers, which have averaged almost 10 runs a game over their last four wins, will send right-hander Scott Feldman to the mound. Feldman is 6-9 on the season with a 4.77 ERA, but has struggled in his last three starts, going 0-3 with a 5.94 ERA.

The Twins, which have lost five in a row and 10 of their last 11, will line up behind Cole De Vries. De Vries is 2-5 on the year, with a 4.89 ERA, and has been shelled as of late: In four August starts, he is 0-3 with a 7.50 ERA.

The Rangers continued their hot streak as they defeated the Minnesota Twins 9-3 behind Ian Kinsler and Mitch Moreland, who combined for two home runs and seven RBIs. The Rangers scored all nine runs in the first three innings and knocked around Brian Duensing who lasted just 2.1 innings while allowing 10 hits, all nine runs and gave up a pair of home runs.

The Rangers had a solid performance by Ryan Dempster who improved his record to 3-1 since joining the Rangers and is 8-6 overall on the season. Dempster tossed six innings, allowed eight hits, two runs and struck out seven batters. The Rangers used a trio of relief pitchers who allowed only one run and three hits over the final three innings to perserve the win Saturday night.

The Texas Rangers (74-51) resume their four-game weekend series against the Minnesota Twins (51-74) on Saturday afternoon at Rangers Ballpark at Arlington.

The Rangers' bats have been red hot to start the series, producing 18 runs in the first two games against the Twins, highlighted by Adrian Beltre hitting for the cycle and knocking in three runs in Friday's 8-0 win. That win extended the Rangers' current winning streak to four games and they now lead Oakland in the AL West by six games while also putting them a game ahead of the New York Yankees for the best record in the American League.

Texas will turn to right-hander Ryan Dempster, who is 3-1 with the Rangers since being acquired at the end of July. Dempster is coming off of his best start for Texas when he gave up four hits and one run in eight innings to earn a win over the Baltimore Orioles.

Minnesota counters with left-hander Brian Duensing (3-8, 4.46 ERA), who has been up and down throughout the season for the Twins but gave up one earned run and five hits in six inning to earn a win in his last start against Oakland.

The game is scheduled to start at 3:05 CT and will be televised on Fox, with the radio broadcast on FM 103.3 ESPN.

The Texas Rangers had a monster game en route to an 8-0 win over the Minnesota Twins. Third baseman Adrian Beltre has been on a roll the past few games. He hit three home runs two games ago and on Friday night, he went 4-for-4 with three RBIs and a run as he hit for the cycle.

On the pitching side, Rangers Matt Harrison had a no-hitter through 6 2/3 innings before it was broken up on a line drive single to left field with two outs in the seventh by Trevor Plouffe. Harrison lasted eight innings and gave up only two hits while walking two and striking out five. The win for Harrison was his 15th, which is a new career high.
