Former Baylor and Utah receiver Josh Gordon agreed to a four-year contract with the Cleveland Browns, according to The Sideline View.

The report says that the contract is worth $5.3 million, including $3.8 million guaranteed. Gordon was selected in the second round of the Supplemental Draft last week, earlier than many analysts expected.

Gordon was kicked off Baylor after the 2010 season due to a failed drug test. He transferred to Utah, but decided to enter the Supplemental Draft instead of returning to college football. Browns GM Tom Heckert didn't have any questions about Gordon's character after the draft. From The Sideline View:

"It's something that we really did our homework on, there's no question about it. We brought the kid in and met with him here then I talked to a zillion guys at both Baylor and Utah. To be honest with you, I couldn't find anybody to say one bad thing about the kid,"

In a slight surprise, former Baylor WR Josh Gordon was taken in the second round of the NFL's Supplemental Draft by the Cleveland Browns, one round before most analysts expected him to go.

Gordon, who was kicked off Baylor's team after the 2010 season, ended up transferring to Utah before a quad injury knocked him out of the 2011 season.

His combination of size and speed at 6'3 225, as well as his production in the Bears wide-open spread offense, intrigued scouts for all 32 NFL teams, although there were some concerns about his route-running ability and transition to a more conventional pro-style offense.

Cleveland gave up a second-round pick in 2013 to acquire Gordon, so he'll be expected to step in immediately and give some production on the edge for former Oklahoma State QB Brandon Weeden or Texas QB Colt McCoy.

TCU RB Ed Wesley, who was widely viewed as the second-best player available, hasn't been selected so far, although most believe he'll be able to secure a training-camp invitation from an NFL team regardless.

Former Baylor wide receiver Josh Gordon, who left the team following the 2010 season after a drug violation, enrolled at Utah and never played, will almost certainly be the top if not only pick in Thursday's NFL Supplemental Draft. The Houston native has seen a lot of attention from NFL teams, including the Texans and Dallas Cowboys, both of whom need receiver depth.

SB Nation's Ryan Van Bibber predicts Gordon will go in the fifth round to Seattle, and will be the only pick on Thursday:

What catches your eye about Gordon right off the bat, besides the breathless proclamations of his status as the second coming of Calvin Johnson, is his size. Standing 6'3 and weighing 225 pounds, his body type matches up perfectly with what teams perceive as typical of a top receiver.

Remember, any team that takes Gordon gives up a corresponding pick next April, so expect a decent game of chicken to begin for those clubs seriously interested, and starting in the third round.

There's none of the round-the-clock television coverage or months of conjecture and strategy for the NFL Supplemental Draft that the regular incarnation enjoys every April, but the 2012 edition could feature a pick as high as the third round (former Baylor wideout Josh Gordon). There are eight prospects eligible, including former TCU running back Ed Wesley, if any team selects a player on Thursday, they'll forfeit that round's pick in the 2013 Draft.

There is no television coverage, however, the event begins at 12 p.m. CT and will be monitored by NFL.com, which will announce any picks. In 2011, only one pick was made - former Ohio State quarterback Terrell Pryor went to the Oakland Raiders in the third round, likely the highest round that Gordon will go in.

The 2012 NFL Supplemental Draft will be held on Thursday, as NFL teams look to, well, supplement their current rosters with another crop of college players.

One of the players in the draft is Baylor wide receiver Josh Gordon. Gordon held a very solid pro day for himself on Tuesday, running the 40 yard dash in 4.52 seconds. Despite the fact that he pulled a muscle, Gordon finished his workout and did not drop a single pass during his receiving drills.

Not surprisingly, Robert Griffin III, who was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, is lobbying for Washington to select his former teammate.

While the reports have seemingly been glowing, there are a few scouts who remain unimpressed by Gordon.

A fifth-to-seventh round wide receiver doesn't sound particularly inspiring, and typically, a player drafted in those rounds would need to contribute on special teams to crack an NFL roster.

We'll see where Gordon ends up soon, as the Supplemental Draft is scheduled for Thursday afternoon.

The buzz surrounding the stock of former Baylor WR Josh Gordon has been increasingly steadily over the last few weeks among NFL front-office personnel as well as media members looking to generate some off-season traffic.

One long-time fan of Gordon is apparently his former college QB, Robert Griffin III, who is reportedly pushing the Washington Redskins front office to pick his former teammate in the NFL's Supplemental Draft on Thursday:

RG3 is pushing the Redskins brass hard to land Gordon in tomorrow's draft. Many teams interested, about 20 at Gordon's pro day Tues...

Griffin needs more weapons in Washington to accentuate his skills in the passing game, and Gordon's elite combination of size and speed could presumably help in that department.

However, this is one of the times that the Redskins mortgaging their future drafts to move up and select RG3 become a problem. If the team gives up another high-round pick in 2013 in order to take Gordon, they will have very little room to maneuver this off-season to fill whatever holes (and there will be some) the team has after RG3's rookie year.
