In what's become a season-long trend, the Dallas Mavericks came out flat without Lamar Odom in the line-up in an embarrassing 94-75 home loss to the LA Clippers.
↵
The team's record is now 0-7 without the mercurial power forward in the line-up and it's not a coincidence.
↵
While everyone has made great hay out of blaming Odom for the Mavericks troubles this season, which have far more to do with the decision to let Tyson Chandler walk in free agency, he's performed about as well as should have been expected too, given that he's playing completely out of position in Dallas.
↵
Odom, at 6'10 230, gives the Mavericks much needed play-making and athleticism at the backup forward positions. Without him, Dallas options in backing up Dirk and Shawn Marion is ... Brian Cardinal.
↵
With him, Dallas has one of the most dangerous second units in the NBA, as his presence on the floor greatly helps players like Brandan Wright and Rodrigue Beaubois.

There weren't many positives to take away from the 94-75 beating the LA Clippers put on the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night.
↵
It's not that the Mavericks showed up flat with Jason Kidd and Lamar Odom both late scratches; it's that they really didn't show up at all.
↵
Dallas was beaten for every loose ball on both sides of the floor and let Randy Foye (!!) hit eight three-pointers, several of them completely unguarded.
↵
However, the fans at the American Airlines Center did get something from the price of their ticket, in the form of the latest edition to the Blake Griffin dunk compendium:
↵

↵
ESPN's Chris Palmer called it the best dunk of the season on Twitter; I'm not sure I would take it above Griffin's "Superman" of Kendrick Perkins, LeBron's hurdle of John Lucas III or Gerald Green's windmill alley-oop.
↵
But still ... look at how high in the air he catches the ball! He doesn't so much dunk it as spike it through the net.
↵
An excellent display of boxing out by the Mavericks as well.

The Mavericks had a chance on Monday night to get within a half-game of the Clippers for the No. 4 spot in the Western Conference playoff race, but instead the Mavericks offense failed to show up and fell 94-75 to no be 2.5 games behind the Clippers for home court advantage.

The Mavericks now are in the No. 6 spot as the Memphis Grizzlies pulled off the upset against the Oklahoma City Thunder to stay ahead of the Mavericks. There are still 12 games left in the regular season, and the Mavericks can not afford any type of slide or they could find themselves on the outside of the playoff race as they are only 2.5 games ahead of the Utah Jazz who are currently the No. 9 team in the West.

The Dallas Mavericks had a chance to make up some ground toward the getting home court advantage for the playoffs, but instead the Los Angeles Clippers routed the Mavericks 94-75. The Mavericks offense struggled Monday night with only Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Terry scoring in double digits with Nowitzki putting up 19 and Terry scoring 12 points, and as a team they shot 39 percent.

The Mavericks were missing Jason Kidd and Lamar Odom who were out with injury, and their record drops to 0-7 when Odom does not play. The Mavericks

The Clippers offense was in the zone on Monday night as Randy Foye led all scorers with 28 points, and as a team the Clippers made 47 percent of their shots but the key in the blowout was making 11-of-32 from three-point range.

The loss for the Mavericks drop them to the No. 6 spots and 2.5 games behind the Clippers for the coveted No. 4 spot in the Western Conference.
