The Texas Rangers look to sweep away the Oakland Athletics on Sunday, a day before they begin a pivotal series with the Los Angeles Angels.

Former Rangers pitcher Rich Harden stands between Texas and a three-game sweep of the A's. Harden pitched for the Rangers in 2010, but was extremely ineffective in his 92 innings, which spanned 18 starts and two relief appearances. Harden posted a 5.58 ERA and 1.66 WHIP as a Ranger - both good for career worsts.

This year, though, Harden has pitched well in limited time with Oakland. Through seven starts, Harden owns a 1.17 WHIP to go along with 45 strikeouts in 42 innings. Opponents are currently hitting .219 off of Harden.

Matt Harrison will start for Texas as they aim to sweep Billy Beane's club. On the year, Harrison is 10-8 with a 3.06 ERA and 1.25 WHIP while holding opponents to a .254 average. Harrison picked up a win in his last outing against the Mariners on August 8, when he pitched seven innings while striking out six, walking none and giving up two earned runs.

A win on Sunday would guarantee that the Rangers hold at least a three game lead headed into their series with the second place Angels. Dan Haren starts for the Angels today in Toronto as they finish up their series against the Blue Jays.

First pitch is scheduled for 3:05 p.m. CDT, 1:05 locally at the O.co Coliseum.

The Texas Rangers cruised in the opening game of a 10 game road trip on Friday night, beating Brandon McCarthy and the Oakland Athletics soundly 9-1. On Saturday afternoon, the Rangers will look to extend their winning streak to two - and hopefully in the process, extend their AL West lead to three games over the Los Angeles Angels.

The Rangers will have to face off against one of Oakland's best pitchers on Saturday in the form of Trevor Cahill. Cahill, though, has been somewhat disappointing this year. While Cahill's ERA is a very solid 3.93, his WHIP sits at 1.40 headed into Saturday's contest against the Rangers. Cahill has also exceeded his walk total from last year when he walked 63 in 196.2 innings of work. This year, Cahill has issued 66 walks in 153.1 innings while only striking out 114.

For the Rangers, Colby Lewis gets the nod as he looks to pick up his 11th win of the season. Lewis pitched well in his most recent start, a no decision against the Indians. In that game, Lewis went 7.1 innings, giving up three runs on five hits and a walk while striking out three. Texas went on to win the game.

First pitch is scheduled for 3:10 p.m. CDT, 1:10 locally.

The Texas Rangers begin a 10 game road trip in Oakland on Friday night as they look to increase their AL West lead.

The Texas Rangers hold a slim two game lead over the Los Angeles Angels in the AL West as they begin a 10-game road trip tonight in Oakland.

C.J. Wilson starts for the Rangers in search of his 11th win of the season. Wilson's record currently sits at 10-5 with a 3.35 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and .239 BAA. WIlson has also struck out 146 in 161.1 innings of work on the season against just 55 walks.

Wilson, though, hasn't been credited with a win since his July 16 start against the Mariners. The Rangers have lost each of Wilson's last four starts - with Wilson being charged with two of the losses himself.

Texas' offense will face off against former Ranger Brandon McCarthy, who has pitched well for the A's this season. McCarthy takes a 5-5 record and 3.31 ERA into the contest, to go along with a 1.17 WHIP. McCarthy has only walked 16 batters on the season, so the Rangers will have to earn their base runners tonight.

While the Rangers take on the A's, the Angels will be in Toronto taking on the Blue Jays. Ervin Santana takes on Brandon Morrow as all Rangers fans suddenly become Blue Jays fans for the weekend.

First pitch between Oakland and Texas is scheduled for 9:05 p.m. CDT, 7:05 locally.
