The Yankees offense has been merciless against the Rangers in the first two games of their three game series, scoring 24 runs in just two games. Texas’ offense hasn’t been able to keep up, either, scoring just eight runs in those two games.

On Thursday afternoon, C.J. Wilson will look to stop the Yankees’ surging offense as the Rangers look to avoid being swept by the Yankees.

Wilson has been sharp this year, owning a 7-3 record to go along with a 3.09 ERA and 1.20 WHIP. He’s struck out 83 batters in 96 innings pitched while walking 33 and holding opponents to a .232 batting average against.

Wilson will look to make it three wins in three starts as his last two starts have both resulted in wins.

Brian Gordon, a former Rangers farmhand, will take the mound for New York. Gordon was in the Philadelphia organization earlier this year, going 5-0 with a 1.14 ERA in AAA for Lehigh Valley. The 33 year old right hander also struck out 56 in 55.1 innings in AAA, while walking only 7.

First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. EDT, 12:05 p.m. CDT.

This is getting old fast. The Yankees pummeled Rangers pitching to the tune of 12 runs for the second straight night, pounding five home runs and 21 baserunners and striking out just three times. Derek Holland took the brunt of it, allowing six runs on seven hits and five walks in five innings and failing to strike out a batter. Mark Lowe and Neftali Feliz each allowed three runs in one inning.

The Rangers fared better against Ivan Nova than in their last meeting, but four runs in 5.2 innings weren’t enough, and the Yankees bullpen shut the door for 3.1 more. Ian Kinsler had a big game for Texas, homering, singling and walking twice. He also stole his 13th base in 15 tries. Elvis Andrus and Josh Hamilton each reached base three times as well. The last six spots in the order, though, went just 3-22.

C.J. Wilson will look to salvage a game from the series Thursday. The Yankees with throw veteran minor leaguer Brian Gordon.

On Tuesday night, Alexi Ogando suffered his first loss of the season as the New York Yankees routed the Texas Rangers 12-4. With the loss, the Rangers fell to 1-4 on their current road trip. Derek Holland will look to get the Rangers back on track on Wednesday night as he gets the start for Texas.

Holland struck out 10 in seven and a third in his latest effort against the Twins, but did give up four earned runs on eight hits in the no decision. Texas eventually lost the game to Minnesota 5-4.

Holland's record still stands at 5-1, with a 4.41 ERA and 1.42 WHIP. Holland has struck out 70 in 81.2 innings of work on the season while holding opponents to a .274 batting average.

The Yankees will send Ivan Nova to the mound to take on Texas' offense. Nova's record stands at 5-4 on the season, with a 4.30 ERA and 1.54 WHIP. Nova's BB/SO ratio is quite terrible, with 29 walks against 35 strikeouts in 67 innings.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. EDT, 6:05 CDT. Televised coverage can be found nationally on ESPN.

Alexi Ogando has been nearly perfect in his starting debut in 2011, but if he has one bad memory it will be Yankee Stadium. Ogando has allowed more than three runs only three times so far, and two of those games have been in the Bronx. Monday’s was by far the worst of those starts, as Ogando allowed six runs without surviving the second inning. Remarkably, it’s the first time all season he’s failed to complete six innings, and it was his first loss of the season.

A Jeter-less Yankees lineup put the game out of reach before the Rangers could scratch against C.C. Sabathia, who won his eighth game.

LHP Derek Holland (5-1, 4.41 ERA) will look to build on a recent resurgence, facing off against RHP Ivan Nova (5-4, 4.30 ERA) in Wednesday’s game. Holland completed 16.1 innings in his last two starts and allowed four combined runs (all in his last start). He posted an impressive 15:2 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

The Texas Rangers continue their road trip on Tuesday as they head to the Bronx to take on the New York Yankees.

The Rangers are coming off an ugly series in Minnesota, where Texas dropped three of four games. In Texas' three losses against the Twins, the Rangers only scored six runs combined.

Texas' offense will be tested again on Tuesday as they take on New York Yankees ace C.C. Sabathia. Sabathia is 7-4 on the season with a 3.15 ERA and 1.24 WHIP. He's struck out 75 in exactly 100 innings pitched, while holding opponents to a .251 batting average against.

Texas, though, will counter with somebody who's been better than Sabathia - Alexi Ogando. Ogando has been nothing shy of excellent this year for Texas - and his 7-0 record matches that. Ogando is also the owner of a 2.10 ERA, .90 WHIP and .188 batting average against.

Ogando won't be facing off against Derek Jeter of the Yankees, who has had his quest for 3,000 hits sidelined for now with a Grade 1 calf strain. While I doubt many Rangers fans wanted to see Jeter get hit No. 3000 against Texas, getting his .649 OPS out of the lineup for New York makes their lineup better.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. EDT, 6:05 CDT.
