The TCU Horned Frogs are Rose Bowl Champions. The Horned Frogs improved to a perfect 13-0 on the season, defeating the Wisconsin Badgers 21-19.

Wisconsin scored on their first two possessions of the game, but were held to just two scores the rest of the game. The Badgers didn’t score in the second half until there were two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Wisconsin failed the two point conversion that would have tied the game when Tank Carder deflected a pass that was headed to a wide open receiver, forcing the Badgers to attempt an onsides kick. TCU recovered and ran out the clock to win the Rose Bowl.

Andy Dalton completed 15 of 23 passes for 219 yards and a touchdown pass while rushing for 28 yards and a touchdown. Luke Shivers scored TCU’s other touchdown, a one yard touchdown run.

Wisconsin outgained TCU 385-301 in total yards, but the yards didn’t translate into points for the Badgers. Wisconsin also won the time of possession battle, holding the ball for 36:35.

Neither team committed a turnover.

The Horned Frogs were held to just 82 yards on the ground, but it didn’t matter as TCU was able to score just enough to win the Rose Bowl.

The TCU Horned Frogs are an onsides kick recovery away from winning the Rose Bowl.

Montee Ball rushed for a four yard touchdown which capped off a 10 play, 77 yard drive for the Badgers, cutting TCU’s lead to 21-19. Wisconsin, however, failed on their two point conversion attempt, leaving the score 21-19 in TCU’s favor with two minutes to play.

Wisconsin only has one timeout remaining, so recovering the ensuing onsides kick is crucial.

The TCU Horned Frogs are a quarter away from their first Rose Bowl victory in school history. TCU leads Wisconsin 21-13 headed into the fourth and final quarter of play.

The Horned Frogs scored on the opening possession of the second half when Luke Shivers scored on a one-yard touchdown run, giving TCU a 21-13 lead. Since then, both defenses have come up big as neither Wisconsin or TCU have scored since.

Wisconsin had only two possessions in the third quarter, starting deep in their own territory. The Badgers had a 10 play drive that began on their own nine yard line stall as Wisconsin was forced to punt. Wisconsin later went three-and-out on a possession starting at their own three yard line.

Dalton completed seven of 10 passes for 109 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 31 yards on seven attempts and a touchdown – accounting for both of TCU’s scores.

TCU’s third down efficiency has played a large part in their halftime lead as well. The Horned Frogs have converted three of four third down attempts as TCU was forced to punt only once in the first half.

Wisconsin leads TCU in total yards by a healthy margin, 234 to 141. The Badgers, however, left points on the board when kicker Philip Welch missed a 39 yard field goal attempt. The Badgers are four for nine on third down conversions but also two for two on fourth down conversions, including a fake punt on 4th and 9.

TCU will receive the ball to start the second half as the Horned Frogs look to increase their lead.
