MLB Fanhouse tweets that Texas native Arthur Rhodes and the Rangers have agreed to a one-year deal.

From Steve Phillips: Arthur Rhodes has agreed to a deal with the Rangers. It's one year, with vesting option, and pending a physical

Rhodes is 40 years old, but he has been dominating over the past three seasons, with ERAs in the twos, WHIPs just over 1.0 and solid secondary numbers. He is likely to displace Darren Oliver from a late inning role to more of an innings eating, middle-inning assignment.

He would also narrow the opportunity for young relievers, such as lefties Michael Kirkman and Matt Harrison. The Rangers will almost certainly use a seven-man bullpen, and in front of current closer Neftali Feliz, veterans Rhodes, Oliver, Frank Francisco, Alexi Ogando, Darren O'Day and Mark Lowe would seem to have roles locked up.
