Rex Grossman’s second interception of the day ended the Redskins comeback attempt in the fourth quarter as Dallas hangs on to defeat Washington 33-30.

The Redskins tied the game on a pair of Grossman touchdown passes in the fourth quarter. Grossman connected with Santana Moss on a six-yard touchdown pass early in the fourth. Washington went for the two-point conversion and succeeded on a Grossman to Cooley pass, bringing the Redskins to within eight.

Washington tied the game with 7:37 to go on Grossman to Cooley touchdown pass from five yards out. The Redskins converted the two-point conversion on a pass to Mike Sellers.

The Redskins, however, could not take the lead. Dallas regained the lead on David Buehler’s fourth field goal of the game – from 39 yards out, giving Dallas a 33-30 lead with 50 seconds remaining.

With the Redskins looking to tie the game or take the lead in the waning moments of the game, Grossman threw his second interception – this one to Terrance Newman, as the Cowboys hang on to defeat the Redskins 33-30.

Tashard Choice added a three yard touchdown run early in the third quarter, giving Dallas a 27-7 lead over Washington. The Redskins responded in kind, when Santana Moss caught a 10 yard Rex Grossman touchdown pass to cut the Dallas lead to 27-14. David Buehler added his third field goal of the game – from 20 yards out – to extend Dallas’ lead to 30-14 as the game enters the fourth quarter.

David Buehler kicked his second field goal of the day – a 20 yarder – to put the Cowboys up 13-0 on the Redskins early in the second quarter. Washington would respond when Rex Grossman hooked up with Ryan Torian for a 19 yard touchdown strike, bringing the Redskins within six points.

Dallas responded in kind, when Jon Kitna led Dallas on a nine play, 91 yard drive which culminated with a 14 yard touchdown pass from Kitna to tight end Jason Witten, giving the Cowboys a 20-7 lead.

Kitna is playing particularly well against a weak Redskins defense. Through the first half, Kitna is 17 of 26 for 222 yards and a pair of touchdown passes. Witten leads Dallas’ receivers with six receptions for 85 yards.

Gerald Sensabaugh suffered a concussion in the second quarter and will not return to the game. Sensabaugh intercepted Grossman earlier in the game. He is the second Cowboys defender to leave the game with a concussion, joining Sean Lee. Lee, like Sensabaugh, will not return.

So far so good for the Cowboys on Sunday. Dallas leads Washington 10-0 after one quarter.

David Buehler started the scoring for Dallas, booting a 42 yard field goal on the game’s opening possession. The field goal capped off an eight play, 30 yard drive and gave the Cowboys a 3-0 lead.

Jon Kitna hooked up with Miles Austin on a three yard touchdown pass with 4:14 left to go in the first quarter to put the Cowboys up 10-0.

The Rex Grossman experiment hasn’t gone well for Mike Shanahan so far. Grossman is three for six with an intercepted – with Gerald Sensabaugh being the recipient of Grossman’s charity.

The Dallas Cowboys play host to the rival Washington Redskins on Sunday - and even though the Cowboys aren't going to be making the playoffs, they will be out for revenge. The Redskins defeated the Cowboys 13-7 in Week 1, which proved to be an ominous sign of things to come for the Cowboys and their fans.

The Redskins, who are 5-8 on the season, also will not make the playoffs this season. Washington is one of the few teams in the NFL who has had a more turbulent season than Dallas. New head coach Mike Shanahan has had problems with Redskins defensive tackle Albert Hayensworth all season before suspending him for the final four games of the year. Even worse, Donovan McNabb, the Redskins prized pick up in the offseason, has played poorly this year and will be benched on Sunday. Shanahan has elected to start the inept Rex Grossman over McNabb against the Cowboys.

Defensively, the Redskins have played poorly this season as their record indicates. Washington has the 29th ranked passing defense and the 28th ranked rushing defense. The Redskins allow nearly 24 points per game to opponents.

The Cowboys come into this game coming off a 30-27 loss to Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles. Dallas, much like in each of the games where Jason Garrett has been the head coach, played hard despite the loss.

Dallas has listed running back Marion Barber as questionable with a calf injury. Barber has been limited in practice this week and has missed both of the Cowboys last two games since injuring the calf against the New Orleans Saints on Thanksgiving. Roy Williams is also listed as questionable for the Cowboys with a groin injury and Manuel Johnson would be in line to serve as the third receiver if Williams is unable to go on Sunday.

Kickoff is slated for 1 PM EST, 12 PM local time. Televised coverage can be found on FOX.

Matt Mosley reports that Mike Shanahan has decided to start Rex Grossman at quarterback Sunday in Dallas, just a few weeks after Donovan McNabb signed an extension. Shanahan was evasive in his conference call.

On a conference call Wednesday, Redskins coach Mike Shanahan was asked if McNabb would start Sunday and replied, "You want to go through our whole lineup or do you want me to go through each position or do you just want to start with the quarterback?"

McNabb has thrown 15 interception in his last ten games and has fumbled ten times. He's seen his QB rating dip into the 70's, better than just six qualified players. Grossman has thrown a combined total of 16 passes since the start of the 2009 season.
