The Texas Rangers front office is already busy despite just being two days removed from their World Series elimination.

Jon Daniels and the Rangers front office will not exercise designated hitter Vladimir Guerrero's $9 million option for 2011. Guerrero hit .300 on the season in 152 games while posting a .345 OBP and .496 SLG - good for an .841 OPS. He also hit 29 home runs while striking out only 60 times in 593 at bats - but also only walked 35 times.

Guerrero was an All-Star in 2010 for the American League and it was well deserved. Prior to the All-Star break, Guerrero hit .319/.364/.554 with 20 of his 29 home runs coming in the first half. Guerrero cooled off considerably after the All-Star break, hitting only .278/.322/.426. Guerrero also struggled in the playoffs, hitting .220 with a .242 OBP and .271 SLG while striking out 16 times in 59 at bats.

According to T.R. Sullivan, the Rangers want to re-sign Guerrero for a lesser cost than the nine million dollar option and are optimistic they will be able to do so. Should the Rangers re-sign Guerrero, Michael Young will almost assuredly remain at third base for the Rangers in 2011.
