The Texas Rangers cut their World Series deficit in half on Saturday night, defeating the San Francisco Giants 4-2 in Game 3 of the World Series.

Colby Lewis pitched very well, going seven and two thirds innings and allowing only two runs on five hits while striking out six batters. Lewis is now 3-0 in the postseason with all three wins coming in Arlington.

Mitch Moreland supplied the decisive hit, a three run home run in the second inning off of Giants starter Jonathan Sanchez, scoring Nelson Cruz and Bengie Molina.

Texas would take a 4-0 lead when Josh Hamilton added a solo home run off Sanchez in the fifth inning.

San Francisco drew closer late in the game. Cody Ross hit a solo home run off Lewis in the seventh inning and Andres Torres hit a solo blast in the eighth cutting the Rangers lead down to 4-2. With two outs in the eighth, Lewis hit Giants 1B Aubrey Huff in the foot with a pitch, bringing the tying run to the plate. Rangers manager Ron Washington elected to bring in Darren O’Day to face Buster Posey, who grounded out to shortstop, ending the threat.

Neftali Feliz recorded the first World Series save in Rangers franchise history, pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning while striking out two.

The Rangers will look to even up the series tomorrow night when Tommy Hunter takes the mound against rookie lefthander Madison Bumgarner of the Giants. First pitch of Game 4 is slated for 8:20 PM EDT, 7:20 PM CDT.

The Texas Rangers find themselves with their backs up against the wall already in the World Series. The San Francisco Giants hold a commanding 2-0 series lead as the Fall Classic shifts to Arlington.

Texas will send right hander Colby Lewis to the mound as they look for their first win of the World Series. Lewis last pitched in the decisive Game 6 of the ALCS against the Yankees when he allowed just one earned run in eight innings and allowed only three hits and three walks while striking out seven.

The Rangers will need Lewis to be just as sharp tonight against the Giants. San Francisco has outscored Texas 20-7 in the first two games of the World Series.

The Giants will send lefthander Jonathan Sanchez to the mound. Sanchez has pitched well in the postseason so far. In three appearances, Sanchez has logged 15.1 innings and allowed only five earned runs while striking out 19.

With the series now back in Arlington, the designated hitter will be back in play. This means that Vladimir Guerrero will be in the starting lineup as the designated hitter - and not in right field committing two errors or on the bench as he was in Game 2.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy has stated that Pablo Sandoval will serve as the Giants designated hitter.

The must-win Game 4 for the Rangers is slated to begin at 6:57 EDT, 5:57 CDT. Televised coverage can be found on FOX.
