The NBA suspended Sacramento Kings big man DeMarcus Cousins for one game without pay one day hitting Dallas Mavericks' O.J. Mayo in the cousins, according to Bryan Gutierrez of Mavs.com.
The incident took place with less than four minutes remaining in the Mavericks' 119-96 victory over the Kings on Tuesday night at American Airlines Arena in Dallas, during a play in which Mayo and Cousins engaged in a minor shoving match during a Kings' offensive possession. Cousins told reporters that the hit "wasn't intentional," but the league believes otherwise, forcing him to sit out the Kings' game against the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday night.
After the game, Mayo proceeded to call Cousins "immature" and accuse him of having "some mental issues." Cousins fired back through the media, saying Mayo "doesn't have a great image himself.".
The Kings and Mavericks are scheduled to face each other again on Jan. 10 in Sacramento.
