2nd Intermission Report: Stars 0 - Blues 1

The Stars were the victims of the hockey gods once again in the second period as a crazy goal put the Blues ahead 1-0.

Richard Bachman was excellent in the second period. He made some point blank saves as well as some sliding saves and didn't give up rebounds for the Blues to pounce on. He's looking great in this game.

The only goal that got past him was pure luck and he had no fault in it. Kris Russell shot a puck from Bachman's right side which got blocked by Michael Ryder's stick. The puck flew straight up into the air, fluttered for a couple of seconds above everyone and then dropped in perfectly right behind Bachman and into the net. Bachman and every other player on the ice had no idea where the puck was until it dropped into the Stars net. It's up there to be ranked as the ugliest goal of all time.

Ryan Garbutt had an excellent period. He was a bulldog on the ice, working hard for every puck and creating a few scoring chances. The best one went to Adam Burish, who had a free breakaway from the blue line after Garbutt won a puck battle. Burish failed to score though as he tried to shoot it past Jaroslav Halak from the slot. Garbutt also had himself a fight after Barret Jackman hit him and wouldn't let him get to his feet.

Scott Glennie took his first penalty of his career but has otherwise been pretty invisible so far tonight. The same goes for Reilly Smith.

Jordie Benn and Brenden Dillon are doing great though and have been some of the Stars best players on the ice, especially Dillon. Dillon has five shots on goal, three hits and three blocked shots so far this game, leading the team in all categories except hits.
