1st Period Intermission Report: Stars 0 - Wild 0

This game is going just like every other game between the Wild and the Stars, slowly. There were few shots and even fewer scoring chances to begin this game.

Minnesota is just packing in the defense to prevent the Stars for scoring. All five guys for the Wild are gathering around the net when the Stars are in the offensive zone and are determined not to allow a goal.

Michael Ryder had one of the best chances for a goal when he had a rebound chance at a point blank range. His low shot was easily stopped by Matt Hackett though.

The second chance for the Stars was two-on-one where Jamie Benn found himself in front of the net and trying to out-maneuver Hackett. Benn ended up losing the puck and that chance was lost as well.

The Wild had one power play chance with five minutes left in the period when Vernon Fiddler took a cross-checking penalty but there wasn’t a whole lot for the Wild. Dany Heatley had one good chance but Lehtonen was there to stop it.
