The Dallas Stars and Calgary Flames are both still within striking distance of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference, but have to keep pace as the regular season enters its final quarter. The Flames (ninth place and one point out of playoff contention) and Stars (11th place and four points out of playoff contention) will meet for the first of four times this season tonight in Dallas.

The Stars have lost their last three games, slipping in the playoff push because of a tepid offense. Dallas averaged 1.66 goals a game in three losses, three of which came from one player (right winger Michael Ryder). The Flames have earned at least one point in each of their last six road games.
