NHL Playoff Picture: Stars Need Win, Chicago Loss

The NHL regular season has come down to two games on one day for the Dallas Stars. In order for the Stars to make the playoffs this year, they'll need see the Red Wings defeat the Chicago Blackhawks tomorrow afternoon - in regulation. Dallas will then have to beat the Minnesota Wild on Sunday evening in regulation or overtime. A win in a shootout for Dallas would be meaningless.

The Stars are currently riding a four game winning streak, but it still may be too little too late. Prior to Dallas' current winning streak, the Stars had dropped six games in a row, with two of those losses coming via shootout and one in overtime.

The defending Stanley Cup champion Blackhawks are riding a modest two game winning streak, including a win over the same Red Wings they'll face on Sunday. Detroit has clinched their playoff berth already, but they may have an opportunity to jump to the second seed in the Western Conference with a win on Sunday and a San Jose loss.
