The Rangers have become the team that is linked most to Brad Richards as the NHL trade deadline approaches. He has a no-trade clause, and it is widely considered that he would waive it to join the Rangers. But New York doesn't want to give up too much from their young core of players. According to Pierre Lebrun of ESPN, the price that the Stars want for Richards might be too high for a player that they feel they might be able to get in free agency this summer without having to give anything up.
Right now, the New York Rangers believe the price is too high for Brad Richards and hope it will come down today. We'll see.
Richards, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent July 1, has been out since Feb. 19 with a concussion. He's been skating in recent days, but there is still no timetable for his return.
The Stars probably want a lot for Richards, but the fact that he will be an unrestricted free agent lowers his value significantly. Two hours to go. . .
