Stars Trade Neal, Worth It?

Monday, the Stars traded third leading scorer James Neal and defenseman Matt Niskanen to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for defenseman Alex Goligoski.

Brandon Worley offered his initial thoughts on the trade at Defending Big D, saying:

My initial reaction is that this trade proves three things: James Neal is not as valued as many felt he was by the Stars, Matt Niskanen is more expendable than a draft pick and the Stars are more than prepared to re-sign Brad Richards.

.Later, Brad Gardner has a collection of reactions to the trade from around the World Wide Web. The range from thinking the Stars got hosed to thinking they improved, though not without pain. The former seems to be filled by people who don't actually follow the team, and the latter seems to be those who do.

So, what do you think?
